Canine Assistants was founded in Alpharetta, Georgia, in 1991. This nonprofit organization is dedicated to providing service dogs to children and adults with epilepsy, physical disabilities, and other special needs.
Special dogs with special training
Seizure response dogs
—Retrieve a phone prior to a seizure
—Summon help in a controlled environment
—Stay with their person during a seizure
These dogs provide a lot more than assistance. They instill confidence by enabling their person to return to the normal daily activities they may have been unable or reluctant to do. They also provide companionship and contribute to the overall emotional well-being of the person they are placed with.
